Loyola College Prep is dedicated to helping students achieve academic excellence. A part of reaching that goal is preparing students for standardized tests to help them get the best results for college acceptances and scholarships.
Last year Loyola College Prep implemented a new test prep course for all students. The SARA by Ray Dass program is structured in a way where test prep is a part of their weekly routine. Students complete modules on reading, writing, and math which allow them to practice each of these skills tested on the PSAT/ACT at grade and ability appropriate levels by the end of the year.
Unlike short-term test prep classes, this program is designed to teach students the content they need to learn and provide opportunities for practice. This allows students to become more comfortable with the material and the type of questions they will see on standardized tests. The program curriculum is designed to support what students are learning in the classroom while maintaining alignment with ACT benchmarks. The program uses videos and different modules to provide the students with the best support possible.
Loyola is already seeing scores increase after one school year of participating in the program.
“We are seeing scores across the board increase with all students in all categories, and it’s exciting to see their confidence and scores go up,” said Stephaine Johnson, Assistant Principal of Academics.
Johnson said the increased scores can be attributed to the teachers, students and the test prep courses.
"Our teachers are dedicated to academic excellence in the classroom,” she said. “We are thrilled to have the Ray Dass program at our school and look forward to seeing how all of our students will have increased their scores by the time they graduate.”
