Congratulations to Taylor Nash for receiving the DAR Good Citizens Award for Loyola College Prep. Finalists are voted on by faculty and the winner is determined by the senior class.
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.
Nash is involved in volleyball, tennis, serves as the Secretary for the SGA Executive Board, is a F.Ai.T.H. Officer, and is a leader among her peers.
“Taylor is such a great representative for our school for the DAR award and as a Flyer in the community,” said Principal John H. LeBlanc. “She is involved, strong in her faith, and is someone who cares about her classmates and who other students look to for leadership. We are so proud of her.”
This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
“I feel honored to have been chosen as Loyola’s DAR recipient,” said Nash. “Receiving this award has shown me that the interactions I have had with my peers and teachers throughout nearly four years at Loyola have been recognized and well-received. I will always remember this award and will continue to strive to be a good citizen and represent Loyola well.”
Once a student is chosen as their school's DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay.
Scholarships are awarded to essay winners at the chapter, state, division, and national levels!
