Loyola is proud to announce Abbie Anderson as the Student of the Year for the 2022-23 Academic Year! Finalists included Maeve Chmielewski, Cooper DeFatta, Audrey Dufrene, and Taylor Nash.
“Abbie is a model student at Loyola who is involved in athletics, clubs, leadership roles, and has exceptional grades and test scores,” Principal John LeBlanc said. “She has an impressive list of accomplishments, awards, and leadership positions outside of Loyola, and what she has achieved at our school is just as extraordinary.”
Each year the faculty nominates four finalists who are then interviewed by the Student of the Year Committee. These students are all class leaders, excel academically, and exhibit Loyola’s three pillars: student involvement, academic excellence, and faith in action.
Abbie will go on to compete at the district level and hopefully advance to the regional and state competitions. Students are required to submit a comprehensive portfolio, conduct another round of interviews, and are judged on leadership activities, recognition, service and citizenship.
“Abbie is a natural leader; she's kind, compassionate, and lives the Jesuit motto of being men and women for others,” LeBlanc said. “We know she will represent our school well in the next level of competition. We are so proud of her.”
