Announcements for August 20, 2024 - A Day

LUNCH:Students must order lunch a week in advance via a Google form here: Week of 08.26.2024-08.30.2024.  https://forms.gle/espjo5mBAvEXmKFu6  - The deadline to order meals for the week is FRIDAY at 2:30pm.

This is the last week orders can be placed from a Non-Loyola email address. Going forward you must be logged into the students Loyola email account to place an order. 

Due to our vendor agreement with our Cafe provider, fast food or delivery are not allowed. Lunch should either be ordered from the Cafe, or brought from home.  No exceptions.

CATHOLIC CONFIRMATION: Attention Flyer parents and students, Father Raney Johnson, Loyola’s Chaplain, will be helping Catholic students who need the Sacrament of Confirmation this year. Please email Fr. Raney at [email protected] if you would like more information.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Parents, please join us Wednesday, August 21st, at 5:30 PM in the gym for Back to School Night. Please have access to a copy of your student's schedule.

 SGA:  We would like to thank the students that participated in our Back to School Dance. We had 80% of the student body in attendance. Along with this, we're grateful for the 40% of our Loyola faculty that took time away from their families for an evening to support it. Thank you, we don't take your time for granted.

SGA will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the dance towards a Loyola Alum who recently lost his home, furniture, and clothes in a house fire on behalf of the student body.

ATTENTION SENIORS! The Senior SGA Officers are selling Senior Shirts on MySchoolBucks until Friday 8/23. This is the ONLY spirit shirt allowed on Fridays, and only one order is being placed, so don’t miss the deadline to show your class of 2025 spirit! Order through the link below:

SENIORS: Mrs. Clark will be hosting a college application help session on the Common App this Friday, August 23 in the cafeteria during homeroom. Come get a start on the application, continue working, or finalize and submit! Next Tuesday during homeroom, the help session will be on the college admissions essay. Don't miss this opportunity for one-on-one help. Please sign up with this LINK. You must register in order to be excused from homeroom.

PARENTS:The LPA will soon be publishing a Student Directory.  The information in the directory will include names, phone numbers, emails and addresses of students and parents.  If you do not want your or your child's information published, please contact the registrar by Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 226-6284 or [email protected].

FRESHMEN RETREAT: The Freshman Religion Retreat will be on Tuesday, August 27th from 9 am to 2:30 at St. John Berchmans Cathedral Parish Hall next to Loyola.  This will be a regular school day and attendance will be taken.

SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITIES: 

CONCESSIONS:This year the faculty, staff and students will be running the concession stands at Messmer for Football, Soccer and Lacrosse. We are excited about this new opportunity for students to earn service hours and life experience. We are asking students to sign up for games to sell concessions. The attached form is for the 2024-25 Football season. 

We will have the full concession stand on the Home Team's side and a smaller temporary concession stand on the Visitor's side. 

We are looking forward to a great year.

Students will receive 5 service hours per Varsity game, if they stay the whole game.

They will receive 3 hours per JV games/Jets games.

Varsity Games 5:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. 

JV and Jets Games 4:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.

LEGAL FILING: David Harville is looking for students interested in the legal field to scan and file legal documents.  You can help any Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 9am - 5pm.  Call Kandance Gruner at 318-222-3395 if you are interested. 

ARC EQUINE THERAPY:  Volunteer to help with equine services for people with disabilities. Our program is in Greenwood, La. Volunteer responsibilities include grooming the horses, helping saddle, leading/side-walking during lessons, and basic barn chores. FBCS: Back to School Bingo is Tuesday, August 27th.  We need 20 volunteers from 5pm until 8pm!  It is at the First Baptist Gymnasium.  It will be a really fun event and a good way to get service hours. Signup genius link below:

BLUE SEATS for FOOTBALL: Reserved Blue Seats are on sale for all parents, alumni and the Loyola community. Blue Seat passes are $200 each and are valid for one reserved seat admission per pass for every regular season home football game, including JV and scrimmages. View the Seating Chart here.

We are also offering General Admission Football and Volleyball Season Passes. Passes are $50 each and are valid for one (1) general admission for all home regular season Varsity and JV games and scrimmages.

As always, Loyola students get in free to all pre and regular season home games with their Student ID. Children 6 and under get free admission. If you have any questions about reserved seating or season passes, please contact Jessica Smith at [email protected]

FUNDRAISER: The 6th annual "Run, Run, Snoopy 5K" Saturday, August 24 will be full of fun, great food from Dillas and snow cones!

MEDICAL FORMS:  If your child will need to keep emergency medication(s) such as an inhaler or injectable drug (Epi-pen, Auvi-Q) in the office or in his/her backpack during the school day please fill out a Medication Order and returned to the office as soon as possible.  One form is needed for each medication required.  Also, if your child  has an accompanying action plan please forward that as well. 

SERVICE HOURS:  Service hours done over the summer need to be turned into the office by 8/26/24
