November 10, 2023Announcements for Friday, November 10, 2023 - Today is a B day.
- Thank you to all of our parents, volunteers, donors, and especially our Style Show Chairs Neal Cox, Eloise Graf and Ashley Smith for a fantastic 70th Style Show! We appreciate all the hard work and commitment it takes to continue this special Loyola tradition!
- The Junior Retreat will be held Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church 4700 Palmetto Road Benton, LA 71006. Students must arrive by 7:45AM in order to not be listed as tardy. Retreats count as a day of school. Doors will open at 7:20AM if someone needs to be dropped off early. Dismissal/pick up from the retreat is at 2:30PM. *Please refer to the previously sent Junior Retreat email for more details.
- Girls soccer was back in action Wednesday night against Parkway for a pre-season scrimmage. The Flyers got the win with a final score of 9-1, with seven different Flyers finding the back of the net. Goals were scored by, Saniyah Simo, Ainsley Matlock, Mary Helen Burford, Katelyn McNeill, Ella Poole, Maddie Crawford, and Kennedy Kerr.
- No casual/spirit day Fridays until further notice. Please note that blazers/letter jackets or letter sweaters must be worn even if you choose to wear the official sweatshirt. No other sweatshirts may be worn.
- The Flyers will take on Ascension Episcopal in the first round of playoffs this Friday 11/10 at 7pm at Messmer Stadium. Per LHSAA regulations, all attendees must purchase a ticket, including all students, season pass and Blue Seat holders. Tickets are $10 cash at the gate and can also be purchased with credit card and online at https://gofan.co/event/1220758?schoolId=LA23475 (Fees apply for online and credit card.) It is advised to purchase tickets in advance to avoid the line at the ticket booth.
- Track interest meeting during the second half of lunch TODAY in the gym.
- Coats for Kids - Porter's Cleaners is collecting donations of new & gently used coats. There is a drop-off box located in the front office. Each year, with your help, Coats for Kids is able to distribute hundreds of coats across our cities! Donate today!
- Softball Fundraiser - Do you like baked goods? Well lucky for you LCP softball will be selling sweet treats at lunch every Monday of November! Be sure to bring $2 so you can support our team!
- Students must order lunch a week in advance via a Google form here: Week of 11.13-11.27.2023. https://forms.gle/9Fg6Kb4Kw6FLJinL6 - The deadline to order meals for the week is FRIDAY at 2:30pm. Funds will be deducted from the student/faculty My School Bucks account. **Orders are charged even if they are not picked up. ** Orders must be placed from the students Loyola Google account/email. Orders not picked up by the 2nd half of lunch will be made available for sale. If you will be late due a meeting, test, etc, please arrange to have your lunch picked up. Due to our vendor agreement with our Cafe provider, fast food or delivery are not allowed. Lunch should either be ordered from the Cafe, or brought from home. No exceptions.
- Loyola College Prep is hosting a Veterans’ Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 16th - 9:20 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. at Cathedral Of St. John Berchmans. Loyola students will honor our veterans with a Mass, guest speaker and music. There will be a reception following in St. Vincent’s Hall. This celebration is for all parents, family members, alumni and community members. We are asking all LCP families to send in pictures of their veteran family members with the family member's name and branch of service to [email protected]. The pictures will be used in a slideshow during the reception. Deadline to turn in pictures on Friday, Nov. 10th.
- Fr. Raney Johnson, our Diocesan Vocations Director, will be hosting a Quo Vadis Vocations Retreat for young men in high school in the Diocese of Shreveport. The retreat is in Shreveport on December 9th and 10th. Please share this information with the high school aged young men in your parish. Interested students can register using the QR code on the attached flyer.
- Service Hour Opportunity - St. Joseph Catholic Church is hosting its annual St. Nick's Feast and Gumbo Cook-Off on December 2nd! There are service hours available for the feast or if you would like to participate in the cook-off, there is a sign-up for that as well! Please see the links below:

- Service Hour Opportunities - The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is partnering with Sportspectrum for the annual Turkey Trot run on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23rd. We need volunteers the week of Thanksgiving to help with race registration and packets at Sportspectrum. We will also need volunteers at the event Thanksgiving morning.

Parent Announcements- Come join us at the Flyer Tailgate this Friday at 5pm at Messmer Stadium. The Flyers take on the Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators in their first round playoff game. WE ARE GOING GATOR HUNTING!!!!
