November 15, 2023Announcements for Wednesday, November 15, 2023 - Today is an A day.
- Congratulations to the Loyola Cross Country Team on a great season and fastest times at the LHSAA State Championships in Natchitoches! The Girls XC Team finished in 16th place out of 25 teams led by Emily Anderson who finished in 13th place (20:17) followed by Kathryn Elberson, Teresa Fields, Bella Cascio and Sophia Boggs. The Boys XC Team became the fastest team in school history and finished 9th place out of 25 teams led by Tripp Roemer who finished in 3rd place (15:58) followed by Mark Henry (21st), Carter Ward, Landon Hooper, Mathis Stanberry, Reese Jacobs, and Nick Kampert.
- Lady Flyers Soccer regular season gets underway this Friday night at 5:00 at Messmer Stadium as the girls kick off the 11th Annual Flyer Invitational against St Thomas Moore. Come out and support your Flyers!
- The Lady Flyers Basketball Team won against Plain Dealing Monday night in the season opener. Camilla Alsup led the team with 27 points and Emily Rowe with 14 points. Way to go, Flyers!
- Good luck to the Loyola Swim Team! They will be competing this week in Sulphur at the LHSAA State High School Swim Meet.
- Girls JV Basketball tonight vs BTW at LCP at 5:30PM.
- Boys JV Basketball tonight vs Huntington at LCP immediately following the girls game.
- Students must order lunch a week in advance via a Google form here: Week of 11.27-12.01.2023. https://forms.gle/i1pBqKdt7TvaMhvf9 - The deadline to order meals for the week is FRIDAY at 2:30pm. Funds will be deducted from the student/faculty My School Bucks account. **Orders are charged even if they are not picked up. ** Orders must be placed from the students Loyola Google account/email. Orders not picked up by the 2nd half of lunch will be made available for sale. If you will be late due a meeting, test, etc, please arrange to have your lunch picked up. Due to our vendor agreement with our Cafe provider, fast food or delivery are not allowed. Lunch should either be ordered from the Cafe, or brought from home. No exceptions.
- Coats for Kids - Porter's Cleaners is collecting donations of new & gently used coats. There is a drop-off box located in the front office. Each year, with your help, Coats for Kids is able to distribute hundreds of coats across our cities! Donate today!
- Loyola College Prep is hosting a Veterans’ Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 16th - 9:20 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. at Cathedral Of St. John Berchmans. Loyola students will honor our veterans with a Mass, guest speaker and music. There will be a reception following in St. Vincent’s Hall. This celebration is for all parents, family members, alumni and community members.

- All funds raised for this event will support our seminarians. Tickets for the game are $5.00 each.

The game will be held on Saturday, December 16th.
Times are 10-12 at the Loyola College Prep gym.
Concessions will be available at the event.

Raney Johnson, our Diocesan Vocations Director, will be hosting a Quo Vadis Vocations Retreat for young men in high school in the Diocese of Shreveport. The retreat is in Shreveport on December 9th and 10th. Please share this information with the high school aged young men in your parish. Interested students can register using the QR code on the attached flyer.
- Service Hour Opportunity - St. Joseph Church will be offering “Nativity Nights” Friday nights in December, 5-8 PM, during the advent season to engage kindergarten through 5th graders in the faith. Dinner will be served, and they will have games, activities, and crafts to involve each child in the true meaning of the season. - Service Hour Opportunities - The 11th Annual Girls' Soccer Flyer Invitational needs volunteers this weekend. We still have several spots that need filling at Messmer Stadium :
Friday: Gate Fee 4:15-6p and 6p-8p
Concession stand 6p-8p
Saturday: Concessions 8a-11a and 2p-5p
Gate 8a-11a and 2p- 5p
*Also helping each night with trash would be great as well.

You can earn 2 service hours by providing baked goods for sale. Any baked goods should be decorated, wrapped, and labeled. Please email Kay Nader at kay.nader@gmail.com, if you would like to donate baked goods. If you are bringing baked goods, the days and times for delivery are as follows: • Saturday (11/18) from 1 pm until 4 pm, (you can deliver bake sale items to the gathering space in the back of church). • Sunday (11/19) 30 minutes prior to each Mass, (you can deliver bake sale items to the back of the church). Sunday Mass times at St. Joseph Catholic Church are 7:30 am, 9:30 am, 12:30 pm & 6 pm. The church address is 204 Patton Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71105.
- Service Hour Opportunities - The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is partnering with Sportspectrum for the annual Turkey Trot run on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23rd. We need volunteers the week of Thanksgiving to help with race registration and packets at Sportspectrum. We will also need volunteers at the event Thanksgiving morning.

- The Yearbook class is currently selling business ads during the rest of the semester. If you would like to purchase an ad for your company, please contact jjmarshall@loyolaprep.org. Senior ad sales will begin in January.
