Congratulations to Ravi Ahuja for receiving the DAR Good Citizens Award for Loyola College Prep. Finalists are voted on by faculty and the winner is determined by the senior class. Ravi was recognized this week after mass in front of the student body.
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.
Ravi is president of the Key Club and is the president of the Business Club, a member of National Honor Society and F.Ai.T.H., an Orientation Leader, and a four-year member of the Tennis Team.
“Ravi is an excellent student and a wonderful representative of our school for the DAR award,” said Principal John H. LeBlanc. “He is smart, kind, athletic, and extremely involved in our community.”
This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
Once a student is chosen as their school's DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay.
Scholarships are awarded to essay winners at the chapter, state, division, and national levels
