The Loyola family joined together on Sept. 19 and raised over $170,000 during its fourth Flyer Giving Day.
Just over 400 gifts contributed to the day's success from donors that included alumni, faculty, parents, current students, grandparents, board members, and community partners. Last year Flyer Giving Day raised $165,000, and the Loyola team was hopeful they would surpass that amount.
“The Flyer Family is truly special, and that is evident in how everyone came together yesterday to give back to our school” said John LeBlanc, Loyola College Prep Principal. “From current parents who already pay tuition to dedicated alumni who consistently give, to new donors and even some of our current students, we were truly amazed with the generosity of our community. I am not surprised to see how our community rallied together, but I am overwhelmed with gratitude for their dedication to our school and students.”
The Flyer Faculty also contributed to the day with 35 faculty members donating over $4,000.
“The fact that our faculty gave in addition to all they give to our students is remarkable,” LeBlanc said. “I am so proud of their commitment to our mission and our school.”
For the fourth Flyer Giving Day, donors could choose where they wanted their dollars to make the greatest impact: Annual Fund, Community Scholarship, or Building Restoration.
This year the Flyer Alumni really came together and competed for the top class. Flyer Alumni alone raised $45,272 of the $170,000 with a remarkable 197 gifts. The Class of 1983 finished the event with $12,000 raised with 44 gifts. The Class of 1977 was a close second with $11,645.00 and 25 gifts.
“We were not surprised by how generous our alumni donors were this year, and we were certainly impressed with their competitive spirit,” said Jessica Ray, Director of Advancement. “We loved watching the leaderboard change almost every hour with a new class taking the lead. Thank you to those class leaders who really helped rally their classmates to donate. We are so thankful for their dedication!”
