Featuring one of the largest rosters in recent school history, the Loyola Flyers have begun workouts as the 2023 season grows closer.
Head Coach Mike Greene has 70 players on the team, including nine seniors, as the Flyers begin preparing for the season.
Loyola is coming off a 6-5 season a year ago, finished as the District 1-2A runner-up, and won a playoff game for the second straight year. However, the Flyers will have to replace their top rusher (Trace Wall), passer (Cooper DeFatta) and two two receivers (John Carmody and Grayson Hutchins).
This is the second year of the two-year schedule cycle, so Loyola will face the same opponents as a year ago.
After a pre-season scrimmage against Haynesville (Aug. 18) and Jamboree at Natchitoches-Central (Aug. 25), the Flyers will open the season against Captain Shreve on Aug. 31 at Independence Stadium.
Don’t forget to join us for Future Flyer Night on Sept. 15 at Messmer Stadium.
