Loyola College Prep celebrated Connor Cassano today as he signed to play Division 1 golf with Louisiana State University. Cassano is a senior at Loyola College Prep and one of three senior golfers who plan on playing golf at the collegiate level next year.
“Connor is a great golfer and student,” said John LeBlanc, Principal. “We are so grateful to have one of the best golfers in the state as a Flyer. We know he will do great things in his career, and we can’t wait to see what he does at LSU.”
Cassano is a Top 50-ranked player in the US (2024 Class), and the top-ranked player in Louisiana. He posted two 4th place finishes on the national circuit this summer and was recently named an AJGA 2023 Rolex Honor Roll recipient.
He finished third at the LHSAA state golf tournament in 2023 and 8th in 2022. In both years Loyola was the team state runner-up.
Not only is he a star on the course, but he also accels in the classroom. He has a 4.21 GPA, is slated to graduate as an Honor Scholar, and is a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. When he’s not playing golf he enjoys playing the guitar and gathering with his peers to build his faith and fellowship.
He plans to major in Business and looks forward to furthering his golf career as a Tiger.
Cassano will join the list of Flyers who have played at LSU following Holden Webb ‘22 and Eric Richard ‘13 who was a member of LSU’s National Championship team in 2015.
