This year Father Raney Johnson and Melisa Jimenez, LCP’s campus minister, started a Bible study that meets every Wednesday during lunch. One group is for the girls led by Melisa and Father Raney leads the boys group. The groups were formed to help students deepen their knowledge of the scripture and build their relationship with God.
“I see how eager the students are to learn more about the Lord and want to bring their friends to learn more about the Lord,” Melisa said. “I admire this so much. I am very blessed to have the beautiful opportunity to be able to walk beside the students daily.”
The girls group started the year with a Bible Study called Sisters of Strength that focuses on deepening their relationship with Christ while also learning how to navigate and form virtuous friendships in high school.
The boys group read and study the Gospel of the upcoming Sunday of each week. They learn how to try to implement the teachings that Jesus taught his disciples into everyday life so that they may live in the world but not be of the world.
The Bible study is having a lasting impact on the students.
“I can see how it is impacting their faith by allowing them to take steps in the right direction in high school,” Melisa said. “It's setting them up for success by learning to use their Bible, and how to pray with the Bible, so that they may learn more about God through sacred scripture as well as sacred tradition. Learning how to use and pray with the Bible, will help them defend their faith and share the gospel with their peers in and outside of high school.”
