Sophomore Religion focuses semester one on the Old Testament, highlighting God’s revelation of Himself to the Israelites. Semester two covers the New Testament with emphasis on the Gospels, studying the Mission of Jesus and The Kingdom of God. Course objective is to enrich the students’ knowledge of the Bible through readings, passage identification, location of Old Testament Prophesies and Sacrament foundations, and familiarity of Biblical stories.

Senior Religion’s objective is to educate and encourage students to view theology from a mature perspective, incorporating knowledge into comprehension with appropriate application for adulthood. We focus on elevating their ability to evaluate the world around them and determine the criteria that must be met to ensure a productive, positive life that does not conflict with the dogmas and doctrines of their Faith. Subjects include the teaching of Catholic Social Justice, History of the Church, Review of Dogma and Doctrine of Catholic Christianity, and the creation of an Adult Christian Life Style. The Spiritual Battle: Light Overcoming Darkness: A Scripture Study
Prerequisite: Religious Studies I
Understanding the Spiritual Battle of Light Overcoming Darkness is the goal of this semester-long course focusing on the book of Genesis, parts of the Gospels and Epistles, and the Book of Revelation. This scripture study will uncover the role of Jesus Christ as the Light of the World presented by the sacred authors starting with the Typology of Creation, Noah, Abraham, and Isaac; Jesus as revealed in the Gospel of John; and finally Jesus as intercessor and Judge in the Revelation of John. The course objective is to enrich the students’ knowledge of God’s Divine Nature from the Bible as a single Canon. We explore Sacred Scripture, official Vatican documents, as well as Catholic Faith and Culture.
