Students who wish to go above and beyond graduation requirements and take a rigorous course load may earn the designation of a Scholar Graduate.
ELIGIBILITY
The goal of the scholars program is to offer a challenging academic journey for students showing exceptional ability in either the humanities or math and science. Students' percentile rank in the verbal sections and math sections of the Loyola entrance exam and grades in the humanities and math and science courses in eighth grade determine placement in this prestigious program.
REQUIREMENTS
SUMMER SCHOOL
A student who fails a semester of any course must attend summer school to remediate the credit. Summer school courses will not earn grade points unless the student is remediating failed credit. TOPS will accept the higher of grade earned. Loyola College Prep does not permit students to take summer school classes to accelerate courses required for graduation or to improve a grade for a class already taken. The Academic Assistant Principal must give approval for all summer school courses.
TESTING
Loyola College Prep administers multiple standardized tests throughout a student’s four years. The purpose of these tests is to gauge a student’s college and career readiness, as determined through National College Readiness Standards. They also assist the teachers and administrators evaluate our own instructional program, differentiate instruction in the classroom and track individual student achievement throughout his or her four years at Loyola. The yearly test administration is listed below:
