Gerald McCaffery, a Jesuit scholastic and former French teacher for Jesuit High School (now Loyola College Prep), wrote a letter to Charles Schulz in the spring of 1966 to ask permission to use Snoopy from the Peanuts cartoon strip. He requested that we use a specific image (above) of him as the school mascot. Schulz responded with permission with a letter dated May 3, 1966 (left) and the image of Snoopy as a World War I "flyer" in pursuit of the Red Baron. The image has represented Loyola College Prep since.
